Water Delivery - How priority of water works

There are 4 types of water on the ditch, Class A shares, Class B shares, Class C shares, and Project water. Class A - Class C shares are what are called adjudicated water or direct flow and can be moved between properties. Project water is stored water and can ONLY be used on the parcel it is allocated to, it cannot be used on anyone elses land. Some parcels have only adjudicated water, some project water, and some have both.

As the irrigation season progresses, and the flow of the Florida River fluctuates, the adjudicated shares of water will come in and out of priority. Class A shares are the highest priority, which means this water is located in the water level closest to the bed of the river, Class B shares are the second highest and is in the level just above the Class A Shares, and Class C shares are the lowest priority and is in the highest level of water in the river. When you water is “out of priority” this means the water level in the river dropped below the level your shares are located. When this happens, if you have project water, you begin pulling from your project water allocation, if you don’t have project water, you are unfortunately out of water and have no more water to draw.
